[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad]  Chasing stock of these is like a full time job! Not helped by Sarah Vine listing them as one of her favourite things in the weekend papers. BUT, I have found two shades at Selfridges so I’m going ahead because they just happen to be the nicest shades.

Trish McEvoy 24 Hour Shadow & Liner

It’s not the first time I’ve written about the Trish McEvoy 24 Hour Shadow & Liner range and I don’t think my love of eye crayons is any secret – but there is a new shade, Bliss, that joins the line-up as soon as stores can get it in stock. I know there are a lot of hold ups at the moment for a variety of reasons but Rose Quartz and Topaz are in stock at Selfridges and Rose Quartz is available at Liberty. It might be a completely different scenario at counter so it’s always worth asking there if you have one.

When you apply the shadow/liner, it feels almost wet on the skin – certainly cool – and you have full colour in one swipe so there’s no need to go over and over. It’s a big advantage if you’re just looking for something to brighten lids either as a full lid or as a line close to the lash and topping up on the go couldn’t be simpler. One of the big sells on these is that they stay all day but that will very much depend upon how oily your lids are. It’s certainly one of the better stayers, for that I can vouch, but everyone is different and oils always break down colour (one of the reasons that oil cleansers are so good).

From bottom to top: Topaz, new shade Bliss, Rose Quartz and Smoky Quartz with Rose and Topaz being the shades in stock currently. Topaz is a neutral shade with a metallic element that allows for gleam on the lids – if you have hooded lids, bear in mind that your lids as you see them in the mirror aren’t the same as your lids when you’re out and about using different expressions. I hear from a lot of people that they don’t bother with eye shadow because their lids aren’t seen and they’re right when they’re straight on at the mirror but in actual life, they’re not correct, unless they never blink, laugh or raise an eyebrow :-). So, Topaz is your friend for this – a nuance and glimmer that animates as you do. Rose Quartz is more of a brightener – good for days when your eyes feel heavy and tired. You still get a glimmer but also a wider, awakened look. I’m a big fan. I feel that they’re good value at £24 HERE for so many uses. Non-affiliate is HERE.
