[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m very pleased to have Trish McEvoy’s newest fragrance, Fragrance X. I’m a little bit ahead of time because it doesn’t seem to have launched in the UK yet but when I was trying it out last weekend it struck me so much as a wonderful winter fragrance and that goes well beyond Christmas and could be just the January treat you’re looking for.
If you like fragrances that tip just a bit to the traditionally masculine notes, this is for you. It’s earthy and lavender-ish with spicy notes that reminded me of being in Morocco. Despite a blend of cinnamon, sandalwood, myrrh and patchouli, it doesn’t seem heavy in the way that this type of fragrance sometimes can. Perhaps the pashmina rather than the velvet wrap.
It’s quite amber laden – you can’t miss it – and there are distinguishable notes of rose but it’s a smooth blend where everything works harmoniously with nothing jumping out too hard. Trish created this to capture the mood of love – but that’s different for everyone although I do think she’s caught a contentment that in my head translates to a rich warmth. I am not exactly sure on price as it’s not here yet but I think it’s more expensive than previous fragrances. My children got me Trish’s Snowdrops and Crystal Flowers in a tiny bottle years ago and it’s still one of the most evocative fragrances I’ve owned – I’ve never forgotten it.
