Long before P50 even launched in the UK, I had Mr BBB searching the streets of Paris for it after being given the tip off by Mrs Hirons. If you’ve never heard of Biologique Recherche P50, it’s one of the most effective exfoliating toners in existence – rather strong, so if you have sensitive skin, I’d advise that this probably won’t suit you – but for baby soft, clean and vibrant skin, it’s an absolute winner (I found P50 for the face quite harsh – effective but tingly – and I don’t have sensitive skin). So, now there’s the body version. If you want to whip away dry patches from elbows, knees, ankles or anywhere that your self tan might catch, then you can expect job done with Biologique Recherche P50 Body. I’ve been using it on and off for a couple of weeks now – mainly to sort out bumpy skin on the front of my thighs (KP) – and yes, quite simply it works.
But.. there’s a massive but coming! Biologique Recherche P50 Body costs £108. Yes. £108. In the US it costs $84 – unless there’s been a printing mistake, that’s a huge disparity so I could only really suggest that you don’t buy it in the UK. Nonetheless, if budget is no barrier, you will have enviably smooth body skin in a matter of days. It’s genius. Biologique Recherche P50 Body isn’t all that convenient to get hold of (Liberty had it for a time but doesn’t seem to any more) – you an find a stockist HERE.

I’m sick to death of the Brits and their wallets being seen as easy targets by every company on the planet when importiing to us and it has nothing to do with a strong pound they did it when it was a weak pound as well.
Back to the face version of P50 (now I’ve vented) does this tingle a lot? I’ve been using Liquid Gold for many months, everyone from Ruth Crilly to Caroline Hirons to QVC says there should be a tingle, I’ve yet to experience this and my face is sensitive. Same with the Clarins Exfoliating Toner – no tingle at all. Why not? I’m beginning to feel shortchanged, sorry for going ever so slightly off-topic.
Yes, this is one of the biggest price disparities I’ve come across, I must admit. So, to the tingle. I honestly don’t know why your skin isn’t tingling…mine did (and it’s not a nice tingle by the way, it’s a nippy, pinchy tingle) but everyone’s skin is different. I would say that you haven’t missed out! xx
To be fair though I think its got a lot more to do with VAT practices in various countries. For instance, I’m in Sweden and it’s a general rule that we pay more for cosmetics than other countries in Europe. As an example L’Oreal’s True Match foundation is 7 pounds in the US, 10 pounds in the UK and 13 pounds in Sweden. On the other hand it might depend a lot on whether the brand in question is established in the country its being sold in (how much shelf space they’ve invested in. For instance Urban Decay was just very recently launched in Sweden in a branch that’s a Boots/Superdrug hybrid called Kicks and we’re seeing price points very similar to the US market.
Sorry for the extra long reply-but I think a lot about the price disparities between countries haha! I’m such a nerd, but it’s really interesting how its all determined 🙂
Wow, what a price difference! I’d really like to try the original first, I’ll have to order online here in Canada most likely.

Erin if you live in Toronto I picked it up at a spa on Eglington ave w. / west Bathurst. Owners use to work at holts spa. I got the BR for the face. Large bottle runs you around $120.
This is so funny: I’m French and one of my friends’ parents own Biologique Recherche. It’s a respected, foolproof niche brand on this side of the Channel but I couldn’t believe it when I read the praise about it on Caroline’s blog. I’m not saying it’s not excellent – it is! – just that for whatever reason, the brand doesn’t have such a cult status in France. Maybe we just don’t realise our luck!
Can we all become friends with your friend’s parents? 😉
certainly! xx
P50 and P50v are HG for me since discovering the brand from Caroline’s blog. I’d love to try the body version but that’s some price difference…
Jane, are you still using Ameliorate with this? Or on it’s own? Im really curious to know which products are really working for KP. Ive been using the Elizabeth Arden Pro invigorating Face and Body scub with some results-but nothing mind blowing.
I still have Ameliorate – which is really effective – but I got lazy over the winter! It’s the best thing that I’ve tried for it, certainly and P50 gives similar results. Have you tried doing some body brushing? That’s a good thing to do for KP but it’s really a matter of keeping going – loads of moisturiser, loads of scrub etc.. xx
Jane, honestly-I’ve tried everything! Its not a huge deal though. Its on the tops of my arms but I’m fortunate with my skin everywhere else so I’m still very lucky in that sense. Now I think it’s come down to stubborness. I’ve read so much about KP I am now on a one woman mission. At the moment my assignment consists of tracking a KP miracle cure and that perfect foundation for combo skin-I am dying to get my hands on Cover fx! Beauty obsessions-the struggle is real, isn’t it ladies! So very real! Hahaha 🙂
When you find it, let me know!
That’s an absolute piss take and it really annoys me. Happens all the time with US brands in particular. When making their decision on UK prices they literally just do it dollar for pound – so this is even more horrifying! As IF you would pay that when it should be about £65 given the exchange rate. *ggrrrr*
Actually, I just heard that the P50 Body in the UK comes with a special mitt – the US price is without the mitt.. but even so I think it’s well over the odds.
I’d expect / hope that Brad Pitt would be wielding the mitt at that price!
