[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I think it was last year that The Body Shop took avocado from its natural home – on toast – and turned it, via sustainably sourced avocado oil from South Africa, into body products. The collection has had a makeover and a few new additions and here we are. As you know, I adore so many of the The Body Shop products but this is just not the one for me.

The Body Shop Avocado Body Care

The Body Yoghurt I can just about manage but the scrub – it’s just too like actual food. The fragrance is not full on avocado by the way – apple and almond with a blast of avo wrapped in coconut and vanilla – so it’s not even that I worry I’ll smell like guacamole. All that said, and in the interests of a fair review, the products are as luscious and hydrating as you’d hope they’d be – the scrub isn’t harsh as its buffered by Community Fair Trade shea butter and the Body Yoghurt is light and fresh.

It makes me curious to know if any ingredients are an absolute no for you? I really steer away from anything snail slime or placenta (and I’m offered plenty but no thank you) but avocado isn’t anywhere near those cringe inducing ingredients. I know perfectly well that plenty of people will be ‘mmm, avocado body scrub.. how delicious’, because TBS will have done their research very thoroughly before introducing it to the market. That said, it’s a global market and tastes differ across the world – avocados are a rich resource for nourishing oil (both inside and out) but I think I’m going to stick to the old toast topper rather than a body topper. What about you? You can find the new Avocado products HERE starting at £7 for a shower cream.
