I can’t think of many times I’ve done an empties post, but it just seems as though everything has run out at once. As you can imagine, I try a lot of product, but certain ones become firm favourites and I go back to them time and time again even if I take a break to test other products. I know that if I ever don’t work in beauty, these are the products I’d be happy to spend money on.
Garnier BB Miracle Skin Perfector: I’ve stuck with this BB cream since it came out; I must be on my 5th or 6th tube by now and love it for its tone warming coverage and hydrating properties. It’s an easy wear base that I use when I don’t need full foundation but do want something to stop me looking like the living dead. It’s £6.66 HERE.
Kerastase Touche Finale: Although it’s quite a thick serum, a little goes a long way – there’s a notable difference between a blow dry with and a blow dry without this product in terms of hair softness and movement. It also ramps up the shine. It’s £16.60 HERE.
BioEffect EGF Serum: I don’t know how many times I’ve extolled the virtues of this serum from Iceland. No matter what I’m testing, I always look forward to going back to BioEffect – it’s the original BioEffect serum and although there are line extensions now, none of them beat this in terms of glowing skin. I don’t mind paying out for something that really works and I’ve yet to meet anyone who didn’t find it made a difference in terms of radiance. It’s £125 HERE.
Jo Loves Pomelo Handwash: This is totally treat territory but it’s ‘my’ fragrance; one of the original Jo Loves and still, in my view, the best. It’s the kind of sweet citrussy scent that makes you smile and my whole family is addicted to washing their hands with this! It’s £25 HERE.
BareMinerals Complexion Rescue: When I’m not using Garnier BB, I’m using this – I tend to swap between the two and mainly for ‘light’ make up days or just walking the dog, especially in summer when the SPF30 is very handy. It’s a gel type consistency and ramps up hydration so absolutely perfect for ‘dry’ days. I’m now on tube No.2. It’s £26 HERE.
NIOD Molecular Hyaluronic Serum: I tend to splosh this on as and when I feel like it – which is often, since I’m now at the bottom of the bottle! I use it under moisturiser, especially at night and treat it like underwear for my skin to keep it hydrated and softer in terms of look and feel. It’s £38 HERE.
DECIEM Sub-Q: Again, like NIOD, I use this liberally and often – it’s my second or third bottle, I think, and I swap between NIOD Molecular and Sub-Q depending on how the mood takes me. If I use neither, my skin definitely feels drier and is somehow less vibrant. It’s £30 HERE.

I’d love to read more ’empties’ posts from you as your reviews of products are always so honest with no marketing BS. Great post – thank you x
Really wanting to try the complexion rescue!

I thought the complexion rescue sounded amazing from the reviews so I rushed to my nearest Boots counter armed with points ready to buy it. Luckily the girl there said to take some samples – it felt lovely going on but within an hour I looked shiny and sweaty and felt clammy. Obviously what looks dewy and healthy on some people makes me look like I’ve had a day of hard labour!
I agree with you Fiona…one woman’s dewy is another woman’s sweaty! maybe your skin is very well hydrated already and just doesn’t need the extra.
Thank you – that’s a good point. I tend to assume that at fifty-cough I should have dryish skin but maybe not.
Jane, what’s the difference between the NIOD hyaluronic and DECIEM Sub-Q? I bought the latter but not convinced it’s right for my skin…but want it to be…any help appreciated. Thanks. Lisa
the most basic answer is that SubQ has five types of hyaluronic and NIOD has twelve. x
