[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Benefit Bad Gal Bang is one of my favourite mascaras (along with They’re Real) – it’s the one most regularly ‘borrowed’ shall we say, by Lucy, who knows quite well not to use other people’s mascaras and it inevitably ends up in her (scant) make up bag and not mine. The thing about Bad Gal is that it does all the things a good mascara is supposed to do – lengthens, fattens, separates and darkens – all with a brush that’s easy to use and be accurate with. So, I had high hopes for their new version, Magnet.
The key point about the new Magnet version is that it has a 36 hour last which is useless to just about everyone and that a magnet located in the brush will magically draw the lashes upward via the magnetically charged formula. Sorry, but I am calling BS on this nonsense. To add insult to injury, it’s the only Benefit mascara I’ve used that smudged and was distinctly less apparent by the end of the day.
It’s disappointing because I really thought it would be even better than the existing mascaras which are truly very, very good. I mean, as an average mascara, Magnet works almost fine – you could use it up never knowing that it was supposed to magnetise to the skies and last for a day, a night and another day, and not really have any complaints other than the smudging which I think after 36 hours anyone might have rubbed their eyes into oblivion. I think we deserve better than this. However, in other news, Escentual has Bad Gal for £19.95 instead of £23.50 HERE – in fact all the Benefit Mascaras are £19.95 instead of £23.50. The new Magnet version is £20.80 instead of £24.50. Non-affiliate HERE.
