It seems like it’s non-stop launch for Lisa Eldridge which is wonderful – a home-grown brand expanding and succeeding. Despite the fact that I didn’t really get along fully with the new foundation, I’m having a bit of an LE moment I think. I visited the pop up store to try on rings (yes, thank you Mr BBB!) and see Lisa’s amazing collection of vintage beauty but the thing that stood out the most was the impeccable colour matching going on – let no person leave without an exact match!
Liquid Lurex is a liquid metallic eye shadow with a five shade choice. It’s like disco pants for your eyelids and does that very flattering thing of immediately illuminating the eye lid.
It’s a liquid formula so expect it to feel wet initially – if you have very sensitive lids you might struggle a bit. I got a very mild sting the very first time I tested it but then subsequently didn’t so I feel that it’s gentler than most of this type of metallic liquid. The strength of Liquid Lurex is that it can be applied at any intensity – either as a gentle wash of colour or ramped up a bit. I’ve tried it both ways and like both but my main take-away is don’t apply it with the doe’s foot applicator – use a normal eye brush and take a little bit from the applicator to make the amount more controllable.
The shade I have is Anjelica which is described as ‘silver, gold, violet green and gold pearls’. I would say the overall impression is a lit taupe – I don’t see a lot of evidence of violet green in there although the pearlescence is exceptionally illuminating. I watched part of Lisa’s video on how to apply and one of things she did was apply under the lower lash line which looked beautiful. You need very little product for impact so I feel this could last years really – it’s £19 HERE.
I’ve grabbed a still from my Instagram video HERE so you can see how it looks on.

I think the two I ordered (Bianca and Diana) are being delivered today. I am very excited.
Yay – I am sure you will enjoy!
Sounds lovely and looks great! 🙂 But may I ask you a few words more about Lisa’s foundation? What exactly you didn’t like about it? Unfortunately, the testing blisters cards are sold out on her site so I’m sitting in the dark torn by desire… Thanks!
It’s personal preference entirely – I prefer a dewier finish and I wasn’t completely happy with the colours so while I was happy to buy the tester cards I didn’t want to spend on the whole thing when I hadn’t been wowed.
The shop is absolutely terrific. I spotted some Miss Selfridge makeup (happy sighs.. I had Tweety Pie, Bluebottle, Poppycock, Blackpool for 80s eyes, Irons Lady and Maiden for lips anyone).
I have the Bianca in this range, can’t wait to apply for some festive sparkles. That said 2.8ml is a very small size product! Has anyone else noticed shrinking product size on planet beauty? Lip gloss springs to mind..
I hadn’t noticed – I just took it as it was – but now you say……. 🙂
Thank you! I see… Seems like “One man’s trash – another man’s treasure” case to me: I’m not a big fan of dewy finish anywhere but my lips (to say the least 🙂 ).
exactly Anna – it’s each to their own x
I’m not interested in the liquid lurex shadow (with every passing year, I like sparkles less!) but I am supremely jealous that you got to see the rings in person. I think I’m going to get one in the next year, but I just don’t want to jump yet. Which one did you get?
The Grace (small) in cushion cut and gold … I can’t wait to wear it. I’m a skinny ring person really but it was just so lovely 🙂
That one is so pretty! Please post about it after you’ve worn it for a while!
I’ll try and do an update Jane 🙂
I bought two of these and whilst they are lovely, unless I apply very very little they sting for hours. I am not sure what to do.
Have you tried applying a primer first? And are you applying as a wash using a brush? If so, leave it on the brush for a moment or two to let it settle before you apply. I’d suggest emailing their customer service though.
Thank you for replying. I will try using a primer tomorrow and will get in touch with the team as I really like them and want them to work
Good plan x
