[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] If you like a bare skin look, the new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Defense will tick all the right boxes to give moisture, SPF and just a hint of pearl for summer glowiness. The brand recommends using it under Complexion Rescue but then you’re just adding SPF30 over SPF30 and probably a level of layering that you might not want for summer time. It would be either/or for me.
The bareMinerals website says Rescue Defence is the first mineral-based all-in-one veil with cacao extract which I will take to mean the first veil with cacao rather than the first mineral veil. In terms of texture, it’s loose and very pleasantly light on the skin with almost no weight to it at all and if you wanted to double up with either Complexion Rescue or foundation, you quite easily could … I’m not sure why you would but you could.
The purpose of the cacao extract is to help protect against blue light damage which I am not sure is fully understood yet, but if it is a concern to you then it’s worth having in a product. Rescue Defence uses sugar molecules to help block pollution and as mentioned, SPF30 for indoor or outdoor protection. The pearl seems very subtle on my skin but there is definitely a ‘lit’ and moderately perfecting finish that I really like for no make-up days.
While the real star of the show is the Rescue Defense and my love is for Complexion Rescue, it’s worth a quick mention for the bareMineral Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick (SPF25) which is such a good example of a foundation stick. Made to a water-based, vegan formula, it busts all the myths about stick foundations you’ve heard – it’s light, lovely and a little goes a very long way.
I’ve swatched the shade of the samples I was sent for both – Suede 04. In terms of price, Rescue Defense is £35 although I’ve found it for £28 HERE. Complexion Rescue has some shades starting at £21 instead of £30 HERE and Stick Foundations are £24 instead of £30 HERE. A good time for a bareMineral base I think! Your non-affiliate link is HERE.

Trouble is that neither the complexion rescue nor the complexion rescue stick stay on for more than a couple of hours 🙁
I get decent last on it but then I don’t have oily skin – I can see that it could easily disappear if that’s the case. It’s not particularly sweat proof either – but then not much is.
