When the Liz Earle team changed the packaging and formula of their best-selling Instant Boost Skin Tonic, let’s just say there was much pearl-clutching and disapproval. So guess what? The team listened and put it right back into the original, beloved bottle and reinstated the original formula. I just need to say the amount of times a beauty brand truly listens to its customers and then takes positive action to address the concerns is negligible. It so rarely happens that I’m leading with that fact before I talk about the product. It’s exactly this kind of listening that allows us to bond with a brand in a landscape that’s noisy, cluttered and unfocussed. So, the calm and reliability of this response is as perfect as the Tonic itself.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic

I think we got used to the idea that skin doesn’t ‘need’ toning, but I’d say this falls somewhere between a toner and an essence and is perfect for hot, bothered skin or adding a cooling, hydrating element after cleansing and before moisturising. The key ingredients of calendula, chamomile, cucumber and aloe vera are delicious.

I have some tips to use the Tonic to its full potential that also indicate how multi-tasking it can be.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
  1. Hot Night Soothing. Pour a little Instant Skin Boost Tonic into a spritz bottle – if you wake up too hot in the night, you can spritz the soothing formula over your face and chest and let it dry naturally. As it dries, it will allow you to feel cooler without stripping your skin.

  1. Intensive Refreshing Mask. Cut into strips or split some cotton wool squares so they’re as thin as you can make them (the woven cotton pads are best) and soak them in Tonic from the fridge. Lay the strips over your skin and allow them to refresh and reboot your complexion for a few relaxing minutes, taking out any heat and calming without drying.

  1. The delicate fragrance of rose geranium, lavender and sweet orange is something to savour – use the Liz Earle re-usable face pads (free with the code TONIC) sprinkled with Tonic to pat gently against your skin, inhaling the scent to fully enjoy the moment.

This product has won so many awards and I completely see why – it’s even better that the packaging is made from 50% recycled material, and all ingredients are traceable and cruelty free. You can find Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic HERE for £16.50. Sometimes the originals are the best – and in this case the customer was right 😊
