[unpaid/sample] Originally, I wanted to test the new products from the natural and organic brand, Jane Scrivner, notably the award winning Purifying Cleanser. I have done that (see later) but I was also sent the Balancing Body Splash which I’ve tried before and loved, but a new bottle gave me the reminder I needed to proclaim it the nicest thing I’ve put on my body this year. It’s just lovely – an instant at-home-on-the-skin feeling that is delicious, and unlike some body oils which, let’s face it, take almost forever to massage into your skin, it just melts into its skin softening action. And yes, it’s mighty on softening.

Jane Scrivner Balancing Body Splash

The key is a blend of jojoba and coconut oils, full of vitamins A, B, C and E and essential fatty acids. Even though the oil is light and liquid, it is turbo powered on hydration and smoothing. Big recommend from me – in any of the three fragrance combinations. I find Balance quite strong on orange and eucalyptus which gradually fade down to lavender and ylang ylang. It’s £33 HERE – a little goes a long way.

Cleanser

Don’t take too much notice of the ‘purifying’ label which to me always signals oily skin – that’s just not the case here and any skin types can use it. It starts as a gel and as soon as water is added, turns to a milk. That’s not my favourite formula to use because they can leave your skin feeling a little flat – like nothing much has happened. However, not the case here because the oils are in sufficient quantity that you don’t feel stripped or dry from it. In terms of skin cleansing, it acts like an oil for you to massage around your complexion and only turns milky when you splash water on your face. Actually, I never ‘splash’ my face! I really don’t like water on my face at all so I just use a damp cleansing cloth to remove but if you’re using in the shower, you’re good and done. Again, jojoba esters are used and these products really do sing the praises of jojoba and how kind it is to skin. When I first smelled it, the thought of carrots jumped into my head – it’s a kind of vegetal/earthy fragrance – so I checked the list and sure enough, daucus carota sativa seed oil appears. It’s taken from crushed carrot seeds but whether that’s the same as actual carrots I don’t know – but my spidey senses were onto something. I think it’s quite pricey at £49 HERE but you need very little so I can see this 100ml lasting a very good while.

If you are sensitive to essential oils, please check the ingredient lists before purchase.
