[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Monika Blunder’s new Kissen Lush Lipstick Crayons launch on 15th June – very well worth the wait, and miracles – all three new shades suit me perfectly! There are already six of these colour packed pens – which came after her sell out Blunder Cover Foundation/Concealer in one (HERE).
These crayons have made me think about all the beauty features I’ve read (and written) on how to apply lipstick ‘perfectly’ – the absolute faff of it – lining, moisturising, adding one coat, blotting, adding another, blotting again and so on – it just seems like we had all the hours in the world to get a precision lip! I mean, did we? I truly love the simplicity of products that remember we have a life to crack on with.
This is Valentina – it’s a deep neutral that looks as though it’s going to be too deep but in fact, settled very nicely to my tone.
This is Matilda – again, it looked like it was going to be too browny and deep for me but actually comes out as this vibrant orange toned red. I think if I have one note to make it would be that the shades look very different in the crayon than they do on the lip. Good that we’re here to swatch!
And my favourite – Charlotte! It’s a slightly pinky red – just a happy, playful shade that brings summer skin to life. The formula uses jojoba seed oil, bacuri seed butter, shea butter and squalane, so has plenty of oils to keep your lips softened and plush. The finish is satin rather than full glossy or matte – just that nice mid-point.
I know you like to see behind the scenes sometimes – I wasn’t able to go to the launch event so Monika sent me this lovely hand-written note accompanying the Kissen Crayons. I was so delighted to receive it unexpectedly and appreciated the thought and attention to detail here – this is not something that happens often. Anyway, they’re £28 each and will be available to buy from Space NK or Cult Beauty. Add to your list!

They look soooo pretty and ready to go to anyone’s purse! And the shades are so wearable and lovely! Def gonna keep closer look… Thank you, Jane, for all these interesting finds you sharing! (Especially, indeed, in cases when what you see in tub is NOT what you get on the lips! 😉 )
So welcome 🙂
They do all look lovely on you 🙂
And that little accompanying note is such a sweet touch, I have been thinking about trying the complexion product – even more likely to now that I see they’re nice people!
All the best, Jo
Exactly Jo! When people are genuine and polite and take time and effort, it’s definitely a swing in their favour over and above big brands’ anonymity. Other people who have been in touch personally to say thank you for a post are Trish McEvoy, Miranda Kerr at Kora and Irene Forte. Gill at Victoria Health unfailingly does – it’s a really simple thing but binds you to a brand I think.
