[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] This feels like a very glorious start to the week – a collaboration between fashion designer Mary Katrantzou, known for her exuberant prints and vivid colours, and Italian luxury brand, Bvlgari, known for extravagant jewellery and accessories. They’ve designed bespoke pieces for so many celebrities but perhaps most famously for Elizabeth Taylor, creating an emerald ring for her engagement to Richard Burton.
The link bottle of Omnia appears in many guises but always relates back to jewel like tones, although it feels quite strange in the hand and I ended up having to be sure where the blow hole was before using it – actually more than once because it takes a while to get acclimatised.
There’s quite a strong gardenia backdrop to the juice, created by Alberto Morillas, which gives it a voluptuous, creamy accord that wraps around the mandarin and fig so they don’t explode and turn this iteration of Omnia into a fruit salad. You will definitely pick up the fig notes which add some greenery to the mix . I’ve looked at reviews of this fragrance and see that others detect a piquancy to it but I didn’t – not at all. The other note that sings to me is orange blossom which is never not lovely, no matter what it’s paired with.
The back drop is musk and white woods which are pleasantly balancing. The thing about Bvlgari Omnia By Mary Katrantzou is that the box, the juice and the bottle all combine to create a rainbow for the senses – a gentle summery moodiness that captures the cool of the shade as well as it does the vibrancy of blooms. My first instinct was that it would make a beautiful wedding fragrance. Apparently, the name Omnia means ‘wish’ in Arabic and ‘all’ in Latin.
