[unpaid/sample] I’m instantly fond of this cleansing balm just for the name – Jaya is short for Just As You Are and there is no better sentiment in beauty. This cleanser is a balm to milk formula, which is something I see much less of – remember there was a big trend for them which seemed to die away – but I like for oilier skin types that still want the balm sensation while cleaning their skin but the transformation means a fuller rinse and no residue.
Jaya Transforming Cleansing Balm will very much suit hormonal or teen skin – it’s secondary purpose after cleansing is to balance the complexion’s microbiome using black tea ferment and that’s very helpful if your skin is not behaving. I’d suggest to get more of the benefits of the ferment, you don’t rush to wash this off – give your complexion a good massage with it. A quick sluice won’t give you the same benefits because the product isn’t there long enough. A cleanser alone won’t make much of an inroad so I’d suggest taking a look at the 24/7 Vitamin Moisturiser (£20) which has the same black tea ferment for balancing.
Jaya is a small brand with only a few core products at the moment – the PM cleansing balm feels well priced at £18 although there is an ‘AM’ jelly cleanser and I’m not sure you truly need both but if it gets you (or the recipient) in the rhythm of a skin care routine, why not. You can find Jaya HERE. I’d give this in heartbeat to a teen whose skin is bothersome.

Looks fab! I think PM and AM division is quite handy – PM you also need to melt off your makeup and sunscreen while AM it’s just basic skin cleansing of its own overnight “production”…
you’re right – I don’t cleanse in the morning very often… just don’t seem to need it x
Well, my skin acts like Princess Fiona: normal-dry in the day overnight it turns to ogr.. hmm… tends to produce some sebum so morning mirror reflection meets me with shining forehead -> therefore morning wash with some (milder than PM make-up melting) cleanser is rather welcome 😉
hmm, I wonder why that is – that overnight it goes oily. I’d love to get to the bottom of that.
Dunno… Active stuff like retinol that I compensate with layer of sleeping pack on top? Me turning 50? 🙂 After washing it’s all right – soft and “well fed”, no pores clogged, no inflammations and no extra shine. So I guess I can live with it just fine – morning cleansing is not a problem, more of a pleasure 😉
Well, if you’re enjoying your routine that’s perfect – a win all round 🙂
