[purchase/affiliate/ad] At the moment I feel really reluctant to pay out on expensive clothes – there’s just nothing that appeals to me enough that I want to make a hard spend. In any case, the high street is doing a great job just now – good case in point, Matalan, where I went to buy a sports bra and came out with two tops instead. I can’t be kept from a floaty blouse…

I mean, does that look like something you’d expect from Matalan? This is just a great little summer top when you want your arms covered but also want something lighter than a feather over them. I’m wearing my Uniqlo Airism bra top in a neutral shade (HERE) underneath. £17 feels extremely reasonable for this top in sizes 8 to 20 HERE.

At the same time, I bought this sleeveless stripy top for £6! It’s great for under a jacket and there’s a navy and white version too. I went a size up (to 14) because I don’t want it too clingy – and it’s in sizes 8 to 20. It’s exactly what I’d wear – that whole outfit – to travel on a plane somewhere.

I said there would be more from Accessorize a couple of weeks ago – here’s my latest find: a little rattan, sea green bag that’s roomy enough for purse, phone and sunglasses but also qualifies as mini. It comes with a cross-strap that I took off because I’m happy enough to carry it in my hand being so dinky. Also, for such an individual colour, it has a knack of going with absolutely everything. It’s both sea-sidey and weddingy, coffee-shoppish and restaurantish. Clever little bag. It’s £25 HERE.

The jacket is from Uniqlo last year and it was one of my most worn items – I can only see a very similar one under the JW Anderson label HERE for £79 in the same sort of linen blend fabric but I’m sure it wasn’t that price last year. Actually, I think Uniqlo has really pushed up its prices. Happy weekend all.
