[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Aside from Benefit’s Hello Happy, there really aren’t many ‘mini’ foundations around but I like the idea of them a lot. If you’re not a regular foundation wearer and only dip in now and then, a mini has the benefit of being finished before it goes past its best – I’m acutely aware of the foundations I have probably needing to be thrown before I can use them all up because I’m using so much less. Assuming we can travel again one day, I like them for portability (I try to travel carry-on only) and also for blending – despite all the colour choices that we now have, tones change throughout the year and it’s not a bad idea to have a couple of minis at hand to colour shift as the season goes along – maybe one a shade lighter and one a shade deeper.

I’m forever a fan of an eye stick as a quick lid topper – if you’re a glasses wearer, these are make up salvation because they don’t require the same accuracy as blended shadows and are a soft and creamy formula. I’m also a fan of Illuminating Moisture Balm – a bit less strobey than Strobe Cream but in the same family. It’s perfectly moisturising and gives your complexion a hint of lightfulness on bare skin days when you want a subtle glow. This mini isn’t quite so mini in price at £28 HERE (full size is £45) but again, because it’s something of a summery product you will probably be able to finish it up and not have it lounging guiltily through winter.

I LOVE this idea. As well as portability and flexibility of shade, I can see obvious benefits in having a foundation ‘wardrobe’ to accommodate skin changes. I know as I’m aging my skin is becoming less predictable again (usually exacerbated by using retinol) so I’ve had times an old faithful suddenly becomes a disaster zone on my face.
My tone shifts quite dramatically between winter and summer so I’m quite often tone adjusting but I hadn’t thought about texture changes so thank you for pointing that out.
