As part of the forthcoming New Dimension range that aims to define facial contours (which sounds more and more unlikely the more I think about it) they have the Estee Lauder Expert Liquid Tape. It’s not the star of the show – that’s the Shape & Fill Expert Serum – but parti of what I imagine will be a whole host of ‘New Dimension’ products.
The Estee Lauder Expert Liquid Tape categorically did not work on me. It’s supposed to give your eyes a tautened and firmed effect. It didn’t. All it did was fight with my foundation and ball up. Funnily enough, it worked better on my hand while I was putting it through its paces but the results just didn’t translate to the eye area, and if something isn’t compatible with foundation, then unless you are habitually bare faced, I can’t see how it’s helpful, especially at £46. If I’d paid for this myself, I’d be livid.
Both products launch in September.

how is this a tape? this looks like a tube for liquid or cream
I think it’s just a play on words.. like it’s supposed to behave like tape.. but it is a liquid.
Hate it when you buy products that just, fail.

will you review the new EL serum?
Not sure yet.. I don’t have a lot of faith!
I find Estee Lauder products hit and miss, some are fabulous and others, like this seems to be! are lacklustre..

Oh wow- I never heard of this before. It’s really hard for me to find an eye serum or cream that actually firms my eye area without making my concealer or foundation cakey or ball up on me. The only thing that has actually worked at firming up my eye area is the Paula’s Choice hyaluronic acid drops, which is a thin consistency and dries very quickly, so I don’t worry about my makeup around my eyes looking sloppy.

Only eye product I’ve ever found to make a difference is the Algenist Genuis eye cream/gel (can’t remember). I don’t have big problems in that area to be fair, but that’s the one thing that I genuinely thought performed. Once I’m through my stash of other samples, I’m definitely repurchasing.
Mostly things like that make my eyes worse not better – I have trouble with concealers as well making everything worse! This didn’t make things worse actually but just didn’t do anything at all.. and I tried three times. I just didn’t like the way that when it came into contact with foundation (i.e. oils) it squirled up – doesn’t make it a usable product unless without any makeup, at least, for me.
You have potentially saved me from forking out and wasting £46. This is why we older women (I’m 44; seems absolutely ridiculous to say that) need a knowledgeable and experienced blogger like yourself we can trust. I’m 44; a part-time working professional and full-time mother. What the beauty industry fails to recognise is that woman are having babies later and as often as not returning to work; we want to stay polished looking into our 40s and beyond but demand quality products that work whilst not labouring in front of the mirror for an hour. Thank you Jane for your sensible and intelligent, much needed, work. Sarah x
Thanks so much Sarah! It just didn’t work for me – maybe it would work better on more minor creases… I am not sure, but the fact that it didn’t interact well with my foundation makes it unusable personally.
I love how brilliantly honest your reviews are! I feel like I really rely on your recommendations. Thank you! X
This is why I read your blog. Honest reviews, no bull. Thanks for this. You are more appreciated than you realise.
Thank you for such an honest review x
Some silicones (in the face products ) are incompatible with silicones in the makeup products. It’s not fun to trial and error with what you have but I have a feeling it would work with EL foundations!!
I just feel a £46 product should be compatible with every thing!
