[unpaid/sample] So many times I’ve seen brands try and ‘improve’ on a best-seller – formulas change and it has the opposite effect to that which was wanted. I’m admiring of Trilogy and their approach to their Rosehip Oil – instead of changing or, ahem, improving this beautiful oil, they’ve added an aromatic element so you can try something different – but the same!

Trilogy Aromatic Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil is one of nature’s best ingredients for skin – it’s been hailed as a super power for skin since as long as I’ve been writing about beauty and while to some degree it’s been overshadowed by trend ingredients, it still forms part of the formula for many of the best hydrators. This pure form is sourced from Chile and South Africa and it’s full of essential fatty acids. I’m working my way though a lot of skin care at the moment (my least favourite thing to write about because it is (purposely) beyond complicated in many cases) and felt relieved when this moved up the queue because other than Vitamin E oil, it’s just rosehip. I think I could say that the brand has made the best of what they have by having independent clinical studies done – you can expect to improve the visible appearance of scars by 41%, stretch marks by 43% and fine lines by 23%. Actually, they say ‘fine lines and wrinkles’ and it’s very interesting that these give the least impressive results from using the oil – maybe it’s because they’re from continuous expression and stretch marks and scars are not. I actually don’t know.

The added aromatics are geranium, lavender and frankincense and they’ve been given a light touch. We are not in AA territory here. You get the nuance of the spa experience, the benefit of aromatherapy and some nicely hydrated skin but it is more pampering if you like than the no fragrance version. I should say don’t use it on broken skin and if you are sensitive, patch test first (then what? I don’t know – no mention of a refund). It’s this kind of product that you probably could, if you were looking to simplify, use absolutely alone and still have soft, flexible and hydrated skin. It’s £34.50 for 45ml – a little goes a long way. One tip is to mix it with a basic moisturiser to turbo charge it. You can find Trilogy Aromatic Certified Organic Rosehip Oil HERE.
