[unpaid/sample] In due course, you’ll be able to find these £5 fruity balms in Boots – in store or on-line. It’s interesting how e.l.f. has attracted Boots as a stockist whereas brands like Essence or Catrice haven’t. I have very little to do with Boots – I never hear from them professionally and I rarely go into my local branch. The awful news that they’re culling 4000 jobs while at the same time bringing MAC cosmetics on board is troubling. A MAC spokesperson is quoted as saying, ‘everyone shops at Boots’… well, no, they don’t, and therein lies the problem. Apart from the Covent Garden branch, which is flag ship, it’s almost always a gloomy experience – sandwiches in one corner, pile cream in another – even putting a new mascara in your basket has the joy sucked out of it. Boots does a lot of talking and very little listening. BUT, that’s such a digression from what I’m here to talk about – Ride or Die!

e.l.f. Ride or Die Lip Balm

The scent I have is peach – yay! But there are three others to pick from, one of which is Black Honey and if it is anything like the original Clinique Black Honey, I’m in.

e.l.f. Ride or Die Lip Balm

As you can see, it’s a glossy, juicy affair with a light tint which gives your lips a nuance of colour that’s amplified by shine. It’s not long-lasting – what balm is? – but the peachy scent is really fruity and not the plastic inspired faux peach that is more usual. I like the fact that it’s an effective, softening (basic) balm and a tint of colour, too. I think e.l.f is in selected stores from today and on-line when someone gets around to uploading it.
