[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] These new MAC Powder Kiss Velvet Blur Slim Sticks are very luxurious in both texture and appearance and as someone with very creased lips, the ‘blur’ element seems appealing given that the claim is ‘immediately reduces the look of lip lines’. My lines aren’t an ‘age’ thing – they’ve just always been that way and I’m forever fully balmed up!
I’m wearing Gingerella here and I do think that it gives a subtle reduction in lines although I didn’t think not to smile – which is obviously the best lip line reducer ever. The formula gives a kind of smoothness but don’t expect a miracle. They also don’t feel like mattes in the wear – a lot is made of their moisturising qualities and the proof of that is that I tried four of the six sent on myself and didn’t have to wear balm for a day afterwards. Trying on multiple lipsticks is my sure fire way to dryness that lasts for days.
As you can see, they’re all in a similar colour palette (in the same order as in the main picture). From bottom to top: Devoted To Danger, Gingerella, Brickthrough, Ruby New, Sheer Outrage and Stay Curious.
This is Ruby New. I’m really impressed with the gold and black tubes – they look very premium and the claims of no feathering ring true as well although ‘no feathering’ and ‘no bleeding’ amount to the same thing. Which reminds me that I asked a brand, as their claim listed a ‘reduction in lines’ and ‘a reduction in wrinkles’ what the difference was between the two and they were stumped for a moment before deciding wrinkles are deeper than lines. So, there’s a message to read between the marketing claims – MAC has ‘no flaking’ as a claim but I am not sure that is even a thing in lipstick – if you’ve ever had a lipstick that ‘flaked’ off please do let me know! Pretty! Suits you
thank you :-))
I’ve had liquid lipsticks flake off! That was so drying and awful lol. How do you think these compare to the bullet version?
Now I think about it – liquid lipsticks ARE the flaking culprits. I rarely wear them because they’re too faffy for me but I’m hopeful formulas have improved by now. I’m also not a great fan of mattes but I did like these – super easy to apply and wear and quite silky in feel. I think they’re more or less the same as the bullet versions – just a different shape.
Oooh Brickthrough has my name on it
