[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Hard on the heels of Drunk Elephant’s new glycolic mask Sukari Babyfacial is Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Mask. It’s not the same compositionally, but the results are close if not identical.
With glycolic and acids (malic, lactic and tartaric) and squalane (like DE, glycolic is doing the heavy lifting here in terms of ‘peel’) plus physical exfoliating spheres it gives plenty of hydration while whipping off those dead cells and leaving skin gleaming.
Because of the mineral spheres you need to work it around your skin a bit so they can get sloughing, but it’s not essential if you think that’s too much. I have a feeling that the floodgates from the US have been opened for products like this by a change in usage instructions – in the US, ten minutes is recommended, in the UK between three and ten minutes is recommended. Where there are higher levels of actives, more stringent regulations apply and it can take a while to get around that – this mask has been available in the US since 2018. I always go half way, time wise, and opt for five! I have to say I was very happy with the result (so much so I did a IGTV straight away!) – clearer, fresher and nicely glowy skin. I note on the US Biossance website, it’s suggested to do a patch test first – if that’s the case, patch samples please! The more I see of Biossance, the more I like it for a mid-price (but still leaning to high) skin-focussed range that delivers. A quick reminder of Squalane – sugarcane derived, it mimics natural skin oils to give a good whack of hydration. It’s £38 HERE, non-affiliate HERE and a little goes a long way.

Hi! Just went online to buy this (as it sounds great – and I prefer this brand to the Drunk Elephant option – and spotted that Biossance also do a Squalene & Lactic Acid Night serum. Now I’m torn about which to try. Have you tried both? X
I have it here but I’ve just done two longer term moisturiser tests for sponsored content back to back so haven’t had a chance to use it – I think I’d like to give it more than a quick once-over. I think the mask is a nice option for as and when – less of a commitment and great for boosting what you already have.
Thank you fir such a quick reply! Yes, think I’ll go for the mask. And a much cheaper option than the Drunk Elephant alternative. Thanks a million! X
welcome… I hope you like it. I’d recommend 3 minutes to start with x
