[unpaid/sample/express/ad] I’ve been really looking forward to trying this new product from Lixirskin founded by skin care formulator Colette Hayden. You know you’re in safe hands when the brand founder has made excellent skin care for successful brands – I used to be able to tell a ‘Colette’ formula a mile off (when there was less skin care in the world and you could really hone in on the personality of brands) because they were always the best.

Lixirskin Peel Express

The texture of Peel Express is more balm than anything – although it is described as a ‘waterless jelly’. A blend of acids, enzymes and humectants (glycolic, lactobionic and lactic), it’s pretty powerful stuff, although as you’d hope from a formulator brand, it’s optimally buffered so that your skin doesn’t react. It won’t be suitable for those with very sensitive skin and even I could feel the familiar prickle of enzyme-munching-cells although tellingly, there was no post mask redness or sensitivity.

When you apply, you massage the jelly until it turns white, then lie back and relax for 20 minutes. 20 minutes is a bit on the long side for my patience level so it’s definitely an in-bath treatment using set-aside time. Although, there is nothing to stop you going about your business while it does its work – it’s not like a sheet mask that by its very nature leaves you prone for however long. It’s worth the wait though for the ensuing soft, velvety and bright skin and feels very much like you’ve done your skin a service. It’s HERE for £31, non-affiliate HERE. Acids, enzymes and humectants are formulated in a waterless jelly to boost the electrolyte equilibrium. Buffered to perfection, this ingenious system delivers extra strength and efficacy whilst remaining safe. Reduces cell cohesion to resurface, boosts the inner natural hydration mechanism, and encourages cell turnaround to renew the skin fast.
