[unpaid/sample] There are three new palettes in the Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette collection – all paying homage to brown. I’ve got one swatched up for now but will ensure the other two are up before long. It’s Chocolate Brown and the others are Caramel and Toffee so there really will be a brown collection for all tones.
The packaging across all three is a theme on tortoise shell – they look absolutely beautiful and very elegant. Chocolate, as you can see, is a mix of cocoa inspired shades – it’s only just occurred to me that the speckled shades look like fancy fruity sprinkled chocolates – I wouldn’t say no! The timing is right for these – interest in make up is definitely on the up, and rather than being a hopeful ‘mask look’ topic to fill beauty pages, stats do seem to support it, particularly when it comes to lips and eyes.
There are four mattes and four shimmers or metallics. I found the mattes a little bit droppy but I think a switch in brushes for one that’s better at picking up might help me there. They’re fully pigmented so a little goes a very long way – conversely, the metallics needed a little more effort to get the right level of colour density but are rich in shine once you do.
I love the bitter chocolate third up – what a smokey eye that would make! Huda Beauty doesn’t name each individual shade (thankfully for any blogger in a rush!) but as you can see this incorporates the colour spectrum really well. A lovely way to use it, if you are a less is more person now, is a light coating of matte followed by a lighter still touch of metallic for understated lids that whisper rather than shout. They’re £27 each and you can find them at Boots.
