As soon as hit my teens I developed greasy skin, with all the battles that involves, at a time when you are so very insecure. It took a long time to settle, and I only reached spot-free status in my late twenties. The old adage that greasy skin ages better is still a bit of a misnomer, as I still have those lovely shiny patches, but now have dry areas to match, acne rosacea and hyper-pigmentation – oh the joys of peri-menopausal skin!

The result of this patchwork of issues on my face means I am very loathe to try new products because even if the ones I have may not be performing to a level I would like them to. Fear means I am forgoing the chance of something fabulous! The thought of replacing a foaming cleanser with an oil-based one was a big decision for me, but I threw caution to wind and decided to live life on the edge!

Step up Decleor Micellar Oil (£18.75 HERE). This famous brand has been on my radar for some time now because they regularly feature on a famous shopping channel that is my guilty beauty pleasure! It promises much – it uses micellar technology with a formula that stimulates microcirculation that leaves you with beautifully soft, supple skin. Well, that sounded good so it was time to test it out. I had to set aside my love of foamy suds, as you apply this micellar oil straight to your skin. Decleor Micellar Oil has a really light formula – you can really massage it into your skin – and it feels luxurious. It turns milky when it meets water and rinses off easily _ I found it very effective at removing make-up. After use, my skin didn’t feel dry or stripped and it has actually helped the redness.

I have been using Decleor Micellar Oil for three weeks now and I am very impressed. I’m not looking for miracles, but for skin like mine, balancing so many issues, the foaming cleanser has been archived and this little beauty will be my new friend during the winter when I am sure it will help me battle the cold and central heating. A star micellar oil and well worth the investment, as a little goes a long way!
