[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m not so much of a packaging geek as I used to be – the less the better really, but Givenchy’s use of this nude pink is just exceptional and the brand has come up with some innovative ways to make their new Rose Perfecto Liquid Balms less impactful on the planet. The lid is developed in partnership with a Mexican start-up company called Desserto that creates vegan, cactus based ‘leather’ (very much worth a quick look at their website because the possibilities for fashion and beauty are endless) and the ‘tube’ part is glass.
I’m an absolute sucker for some marbling – there’s a little hint of cooling (not sure where that’s coming from) when you apply the liquid balm but once that’s died away it feels glossy and comforting on the lips. The shades I have are Pink Nude and Milky Nude, and yes, there is that milky, creamy aspect to the colours.
The active ingredients are pretty good – shea butter, hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C and pink pepper extract all of which work to keep hydration in the lips. So, with a decent level of sheen that’s not quite full gloss, enough colour to make their point and a lasting moisture feeling, I think they’re beautiful. They actually feel like the treats they are. They’re £30 each but I’ve found them on offer for £25.50 HERE.
There are also some new skincare products – I’ve only surface tested at this stage the Vitamin Glow Serum, a ‘daily vitamin’ shot for your skin. It’s a more-liquid-than-usual formula with a fresh, rosy fragrance and feels both smoothing and soothing on the skin. Honestly, it’s lovely and for you if you are ok with fragrance and like a very light feeling serum that leaves a veil of comfort on the skin. In fact, it feels like it’s supposed to be on your skin – the blurb says it’s developed ‘in high affinity with the skin’s barrier’ and that’s exactly right … a kind of instant melt. At £62 perhaps it’s a considered purchase but gosh, it’s lovely!
The Skin Glow Priming Lotion works as a daily ‘glow’ lotion, using AHAs and vitamins to keep skin smooth and soft. It’s also got the same fresh, almost rosy fragrance so not for you if you don’t or can’t use fragranced skin care. It’s £37.50 although if you head to Escentual the prices are lower HERE.

I wonder if Givency knows–or cares–that the (mis-)use of the term “nude” in these products might turn off people whose natural skin tone is a different color but whose money and credit cards work just fine with other companies who use a more inclusive branding strategy?
I try to use neutral as an alternative word, but I tend to think that ‘nude’ is whatever colour you are … they have 35 foundation shades – is it the packaging colour you don’t like? I’m interested to know more so I get it right in the future 🙂

I do not mind the packaging color (I think it is that trendy “Millennial pink”?); it is more the shade names like “Pink Nude” and “Milky Nude” that are off putting to me. The latter color could be renamed “Milky Tea.” I do love the marbled look of the lip balm in the container.
of course, no problem. yes, I can see they might not speak to you in the same way because that is assuming a certain shade to nude when really, it’s a myriad of shades. Could just as easily be pink neutral, or as you say, milky tea – love that!

I noticed these but wasn’t sure if the marbling would make them too barely there. There is a far deeper pink on your arm than I anticipated. Also wasn’t sure if it was the type of product that gives a stain or chemical colour reaction to the lips. With a lip product I expected nude to refer to the finish. So this product is far glossier than I was expecting.
No.1 and No.11 are the stains – the others don’t have the same effect.
