I’m not the only whose skin has got more sensitive than it used to be. I don’t think I would call my skin – overall – sensitive but I certainly can’t use some of the products that I used to be able to and have to be quite careful with anything ‘peely’. Speaking of ‘peels’, they can, and often do, exacerbate redness. So, if you can correspond your use of peels with redness, it’s time to downscale the acids.

AD REN Barrier Support Elixir

While REN Evercalm Barrier Support Elixir is a very useful post-peel treatment for getting your skin’s barrier back to it’s rightful state, it’s actually got a lot of different uses for complexions that are misbehaving. Years ago, in beauty, we never discussed skin barriers but research has proven that its something we really do need to pay attention to. A healthy skin barrier consists of cholesterol, fatty acids and ceramides – to name a few essential nutrients. It looks smooth with no inflammation, redness or flakiness.

REN Evercalm Barrier Support Elixir

REN Barrier Support Elixir feels as gentle on the complexion as you’d hope it would. Somewhere between an oil and a serum in texture, it won’t leave any shine and you’d use it before any other product on your face, after cleansing. It’s key role is to improve skin performance so that it is optimally receptive to anything else you are using while feeling comfortable and calm. Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Inca Inchi Oil and Meadowfoam Seed Oil are loaded with replenishing omegas and skin soothers that will work on irritation by soothing and nourishing. Don’t quote me, but I used it on my arm for a rash out of curiosity and it took the itch away just like that.

The clinicals from REN Evercalm Barrier Support Elixir show barrier improvement in 14 days and redness reduction after 7 days. I’m loathe to complicate skin care routines unless it’s very worthwhile – our changing regimes and treatments can be tough love on complexions so I see the Elixir as the comfort blanket you didn’t know you needed but would become quickly lost without.
