[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Oh my – well, it’s been a while since I got a beauty rush from a palette but it’s as though Dior have read my mind. I seem to have broken my black kohl habit (for now – never say never!) over the no-make-up months and have been reaching more for softer brown and grey liners and more often than not, no eye-shadow at all or just a quick once over with a colour stick. So, these two Dior 5 Couleurs Couture palettes are just the very perfect blend of muted, taupe and brown tone shades to make something or almost nothing of the lids.

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Palettes

This colourway is Grand Bal – a mix of plump, pillowy shades in shimmering nude tones with a deep, matte brown kick in the middle. The textures are creamy (although they’re powders) and rich with the top two shades being more of a shimmer wash to wear over naked lids for a gleam, and the bottom two are less translucent in gold and a peach-nude. Yum! It makes me want to go out and buy whispy, chiffon tops in the same hues.

This palette is the reminder I needed that there is still a heap of joy to be had from lid wear.

The second palette I have is Nude Dress and it’s all of the yeses all over again. It’s a little more smoky and deep in colourway but still owes much to creamy lattes (with a shot of soft peach). It’s warmer than Grand Bal and less shimmery – if you aren’t a shimmer and glimmer fan, this is the better option. Again, go top for a dialed down look and bottom for more depth. Shades 1, 2 and 4 (going round the clock) are a metallic finish, and shade 3 is matte.

Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Palettes

It’s been a while since I swatched a Dior palette and I’d forgotten that the powders are almost like liquid in the way they lay down on the skin – one swipe with the palette sponge brush is all that’s needed for these clear and concise shade imprints.

I’ve also got the Diorshow Overcurl Mascara and two of the new matte waterproof liners but I need a bit longer with them to try them properly so I’ll post later in the week. The palettes aren’t cheap by any means at £48 each HERE at John Lewis (non affiliate HERE) but they’ve nailed the luxury look and feel. There are 12 different colour options mostly staying in the soft, neutral tones but if you want bright, there is Denim, a mix of blues and golds or the burgundy, berryish tones of Mitzah. I was in Florence at the weekend and while Mr BBB and our friends opted to climb up a huge tower, I strolled the shops for an hour – every fashion store was full to the brim with variations of brown, taupe and cream with black taking very much a back seat. Brown is the future, it seems!
