[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Who knew Nails Inc has been around for 21 years! Somehow it still feels like a relatively new brand to me. This is a nimble brand – constant re-invention and innovation have kept it at the forefront of the nail game and it used to be that you couldn’t open a magazine without finding a ‘must-have’ Nails Inc shade – I seem to remember Porchester Square being the colour everyone wanted.

As you can see from the label, 73% of the contents are obtained from plant origin. Nail polish is no longer ‘virtually’ the same as car paint – it’s come a long way and although Nails Inc isn’t the only brand to use a high plant based content (Kure Bazaar was the front runner on this), they are the most prominent. The brand uses hexanal as an alternative to formaldehyde although we should remember that many brands (such as Essie and Zoya) long since banished formaldehyde. None, as far as I’m aware, are 21 free (it’s a long list, including acetone and parabens as well as formaldehyde although not published so for all I know could contain carrots and pixie dust) so this ingredient line-up will sit well with anyone who wants to limit their exposure to (carrots :-)))) nasties.

There are 12 shades in this particular formula so far – the bottles all have ash wood lids (but labels are plastic) and a donation of 80p per bottle goes to the Rainforest Trust if you Instagram your colour using the hashtag #postforplantpower. I think it would be nice if this happened anyway otherwise it’s just a marketing exercise.

On the nail wheel, top to bottom are: Spiritual Gangster, What’s Your Spirituality, Swear By Salutation, U Ok Hun?, Mother Earth’s Calling and Everyday Self Care. It’s my feeling that they’re slightly more fluid than the traditional format and not quite so pigmented so you may need to add an extra coat – I’ve applied two to each nail on the wheel. They’re £9 each HERE, non affiliate HERE.
