This totally caught my eye when I was in Selfridges yesterday – so much so I haven’t stopped thinking about it! The Love Is.. characters will resonate with people who saw the 1970’s and 80’s! I had a Love Is.. necklace and I so wish I still had it! Something I didn’t know about the cartoons, originally drawn by Kim Casali, is that they owe a large proportion of popularity to the film, Love Story, whose famous line is, “Love means never having to say you’re sorry”. Kim’s most famous Love Is.. cartoon is “Love Is.. being able to say you’re sorry” which resonated closely with film fans. And, no doubt saved many a relationship by putting into written word what is sometimes too hard to say out loud.
Anyway, the Anya bag is a whopping £195 HERE, but oh, it’s bringing back some memories!

I remember ‘Love Is………’ too, I seem to recall I used to cut the cartoons out of a newspaper & collect them……?
Oh, I remember those cartons! They used to run in my local newspaper when I was a kid. I didn’t realize that Mrs. Casali’s heirs had licensed her drawings for commercial use.
I showed my lovely husband this article and as a result I got the very bag for my birthday! It made me very emotional, the funny thing though was his comment ‘the signature looks just like the name Kim’ so it’s just perfect for you! He wasn’t familiar with the cartoons and had no idea they were the designs of Kim Casali! Silly sausage. Thoughtful though.
oh how lovely!!
