HAER Susinum Luxuriant Hair Oil

[unpaid/sample/ad] I tested this luxury hair oil well before lock-down began but it hadn’t actually launched so it’s given me the opportunity to try it several times since. I got extremely low maintenance on hair – gave up conditioner – but since I’ve had more time, somehow hair care seems less onerous so I’m bothering with it a bit more. It’s in great condition which I feel must have something to do with pollution levels dropping (I live in London) but also perhaps the extra effort.

First, I must tell you, it’s really expensive! £65 which I wasn’t expecting. However, a drop or two is all that’s needed so it lasts and lasts, but still. The ingredient list is impressive – in a coconut oil base you’ll find olive squalene, Egyptian blue lotus, moringa, Frankincense, Myrrh, black cumin .. and on it goes all the way through to the ylang ylang and hazelnut at the end.

The formula is more about the return to ancient recipes with a nod to modern technology – in fact, this formula is taken from a 2000 year old Egyptian recipe.  There are no synthetic or chemical ingredients (yes, I know everything is a chemical but you get my meaning) so this sits nicely as a luxury treat for anyone who has given up on silicones and finds their hair responds well to more natural alternatives. It’s really light-weight and the smell is divine – I think it’s the ylang ylang coming through – and it can be used on wet or dry hair. Personally, I’ve used it on wet hair before blow drying on conditioner free days and it’s nicely softening although I didn’t feel it made my hair particularly glossy – but perhaps I was a bit shy with the amount.
