[unpaid/sample/purchase] In celebration of 100 years of Chanel No.5, there’s a brand new limited collection, Factory 5. There are 17 products in the line-up – it’s all selling very fast so if you will need to be very quick on it if you want to get anything. I know that some lines are already listed as sold out.

CHANEL Factory 5 Collection

The CHANEL Factory 5 Collection is a luxury dive into the ordinary – a temporary move away from the ‘glamour’ of this iconic fragrance. It’s a re-invention of No.5, placing it into the ordinary such as paint tins and oil cans. There are still products in store (I went to Bond St yesterday – queued (in the rain) to get into the store to buy a few products and was only allowed to buy one unit of each item which suggests they are as limited as stated) so if you are anywhere near a store, CHANEL has a list of locations on their website. So, I will quickly go through both a mix of samples and purchases.

The Shower Gel as a Paint Can. Inside the cardboard ‘tin’ (metal lid and components) you’ll find 20 x 6ml (recyclable) sachets of shower gel (I’m going to use mine in the bath). It’s currently listed as sold out but Selfridges is opening a pop-up shop on 6th July (it’s not clear whether that will translate to on-line as well but fingers at the ready just in case). It’s £56.

Specifically for the bath is The Bath Tablets in a metal mason-jar style container. There are twenty bath tablets inside. It’s also £56. The Oil Can, incidentally, will be a Selfridges Pop Up exclusive.

The Shower Gel is in water-bottle style packaging containing 500ml of Creamy Shower Gel. Actually, there is a real water bottle – both are still in stock at the time of writing HERE . They’re both £56.

One of the most distinctive things about the CHANEL No.5 Factory soap is the strength of the scent. It would be my next best against the sold out Paint Tin and Mason Jar. You can smell it as soon as you open the tin and I didn’t even remove the wrapper. I still haven’t so it’s just sitting next to me giving the full waft! It’s £40 and is still in stock HERE.

Next up is the curiosity that is The Mystery Box. I half thought perhaps the SA wouldn’t tell me what was in it – I definitely wasn’t going to buy this item – but she did and as soon as I knew I bought it!

Inside you will find a small hand-towel (I haven’t opened it yet so not sure whether it’s hand towel sized or flannel sized), a Chanel No. 5 Hand Cream and a glass nail file with a little black velvet case. It’s also sold out.

Notable products left in stock are the small tubes of Shower Gel (£40) and yes, I would – they’re designed like tubes of oil paint, as are the Hand Creams in the same packaging style. Other products include Body Creme, Body Emulsion and fragrance in various guises.  I’ll update this post if there is any more information or re-stocks. Otherwise, if you’re a CHANEL fan or collector, these are absolutely hitting the spot as quirky collectables – I daren’t look on resale sites but it will only be moments. When I was in the store there was another lady also buying (not everyone in queue was there for Factory, it transpired) some products and we started chatting straight away both equally thrilled with our purchases. I am a collector of things such as this so I’m delighted to have them (I purchased the paint, the mystery and the soap, I was sent the mason and the shower gel). So, if you miss out today – because it will all be gone by the end of the day – your next opportunity is Selfridges on 5th July and they will have some on-line stock.
