[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I can’t remember the last time I was too hot but I think that feeling is on its way and I’m very glad to have L’Occitaine Verveine Menthe EDT (£52), this summer’s twist on Verveine. In fact, there are a few twists across the Verveine collection, all of which are deliciously summery and fresh.
The Body Ice Gel (£24) in Verveine Menthe is the most lovely, cooling and refreshing hydrator to smooth onto tired and hot limbs. In the bottle, it looks like a creme, but the texture is a light feeling, verbena scented gel with a pinch of mint to sharpen the senses. I get the same emotion from this as I do from an ice filled glass of fizzing gin and tonic – immediately delicious and fresh.
Should, by some miracle, you need some after sun then I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest the Verveine Cactus (£22) version which is light and cooling – even more so if you keep it in the fridge. Again, it’s a gel consistency so melts beautifully and quickly onto the skin. To be honest, I’m not sure if the cactus is supposed to smell of anything but if it is, I can’t tell it from the actual verbena. It’s a good match nonetheless because I always think of cacti as juicy and bright on the inside, which is exactly how I’d describe the After Sun.
More G&T analogies incoming! The Body & Hair Refreshing Mist (£15) has a lemony, citrus twist – exactly like ice and a slice when they’re with alcohol as the first impression of the spritz. That quickly dies away to leave a very light lemony trail – it’s something you’d want to do time and again just to get the first blast. A product like this is made to be spritzed liberally rather than eked out so to get the best of it, spray with abandon.
The Refreshing Sugar Scrub (£22) has the same citrus twist but without the alcohol edge – in fact, I think it smells more sweet than the spritz. The sugar grains for scrubbing are set in a light gel so it’s best to apply to damp skin before you get in the shower to really get some grain action otherwise it melts away before it has done anything. It’s not the thing I would reach for first from this selection but has all the right summery vibes to get you feeling brighter. The collection is HERE, non affiliate HERE.
I also can’t help noticing that if you don’t mind not having the newest version the Sparkling Verveine EDT (also with a minty twist) is in the sale reduced from £52 to £26 HERE (I mean, I go fast for this). The Happy Cherry fragrance from earlier this year which I loved is also on sale (I don’t know why!) for £27 from £39 HERE. It’s quite a young, vibrant cherry with a sugar kick and one of those scents that makes you go ‘mmmm’ straight away! You could get Christmas all sewn up with this sale – I’d forgotten how good it is.

I swear the Verveine body lotion and shower gel helps keeps the mozzies at bay when I visit India (whenever that will be who knows).
Oh that’s interesting – they don’t like citrussy things do they? I know verbena has a lemony smell so you may be on to something..
