[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] What happened to linen waters? I used to love them for making ironing just a little bit more bearable – a waft of lavender is always lovely. I’ve been waiting for this collection for what feels like ever because The Laundress x Aromatherapy Associates launched in the US well before it landed here in the UK. But here we are at last in the strange land that makes washing liquid a luxury treat instead of a tiresome chore. Being realistic, it’s still a bl**dy chore but at least it smells delicious so I will count my blessings.
I didn’t think I would ever be the person that forked out £35 on detergent but a while back as part of their marketing materials a fragrance brand sent me some washing powder that had been perfumed with a particular scent. It is indescribably lovely to have sheets that smell so beautiful and I can never get it again because it was a one-off but I feel I would pay almost any money to have it back. So, I don’t feel opposed to turning laundry into a luxury although I will save these for bedding rather than jeans and so on. I love Aromatherapy Associates – it’s an enduring presence in my bathroom with Deep Relax being the scent that my family most associates me with. It’s the gift I send to friends who are stressed or unhappy and it is the aromatherapy blend that I most want to bathe in and therefore I’d like to sleep in it too.
I guess there is an argument for adding your own aromatherapy drops to your regular detergent but I don’t see how you’d ever exactly replicate it – the base detergent in The Laundress x Aromatherapy Associates has been stripped so that you will only smell the aromatherapy oils rather than a detergent aroma. I use a 40 degree wash for my sheets which retains the fragrance well enough for a waft every now and again when in bed – I mean, it’s a very, very nice thing to pull back the duvet and be greeted with Deep Relax (it’s recommended to use 4 capfuls per wash so you’ll get 16 washes from the bottle). It’s exactly the sort of autumn cosying up I want to do. The other variant is Forest Therapy which is a greener, fresher blend than DR so probably more suited to clothes than bedding – at least for now. Spring is another thing altogether.
The Dish Soap (washing up liquid to us!) is in the Support Breathe blend (£25) of eucalyptus, peppermint and tea tree and if anything can improve the pan scrubbing experience, it’s this. At the start of lockdown one of the trends that brands saw was upgrades on every-day items so I suppose that the The Laundress x Aromatherapy Associates collaboration is exactly that. Nobody needs £25 washing up liquid but we’d probably all like it and if you are someone who can step back and appreciate the moment, you might well find yourself feeling a bit differently about those dirty forks. I don’t know – aromatherapy works for me and I like to have it around me and while nothing makes chores better, they do make the moment better. I’m aware that these fall into treat category but if you’re ready to nest for autumn, I’d recommend. You can find The Laundress x Aromatherapy Associates products HERE. Non-affiliate HERE.

Yep, staying at home gets more and more indulgent… 😉 I also immediately thought about only put that detergent on bed linen! Just my husband is not a fan of lavender and most of these “good sleep mists”… but he’s ok when I sprits a bit of my all time fav Thierry Mugler Cologne there (got a HUGE 300ml – yes, three hundred mills! – so can bathe in it… and it’s kinda what I do – scent is not at all overpowering) 🙂
300ml!! Wow – that IS big 🙂
I an desperate for anything that will make me feel better at the moment so I’m buying them ASAP Jane. Thanks for the heads-up.
Well, make sure you enjoy the entire process from picking which you want and acknowledging that you’re doing something lovely for yourself because you can – and should. It’s a great self-care moment I think, realising that you deserve something truly nice just because you do without any wrapping excuses or reasons around it. Enjoy!
Thank you, I shall
I mean I didn’t think I’d need it but I feel I should try it, well that’s the argument I’m going to have with myself ha!
It’s a very wantable thing I think – nobody ‘needs’ scented sheets… or DO THEY? ;-))))))))
Comfort doing an ironing water and it’s amazing! It stops clothes getting that ‘stale’ smell if they’ve been in the cupboard a while before being worn. Worth £1 a bottle!
oh wow.. thanks for the tip!
