[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Invati Advanced is Aveda’s hair loss management range. Whether it’s a result of  hormonal changes (from child birth to menopause and all the hormonal variations in between!), genetics or breakage, it’s perfect for thin and/or fine hair. I don’t have either (yet) although I am sure I have less hair than I used to but it’s not problematic, making it difficult to ‘review’ from that perspective. However, the newest product is the Intensive Hair & Scalp Masque. I have a few Aveda favourites – Cherry Almond for a start, but more recently the Sap Moss Leave In Conditioner which I swear makes my hair shinier every time as well as keeping it soft and feeling healthy. I leave out the wash-out conditioner stage in favour of the leave-in and am grateful for the time and faff saving there!

Aveda Invati Advanced

So, I’ve tried the trio that you can see – I love the shampoo – which is exactly the same formula as the Advanced Exfoliating Shampoo, just a new name. It gives the scalp a good clear out without leaving any dryness (on either scalp or hair). It’s taken quite a long time for us to associate a healthy scalp with healthy hair but if the scalp isn’t working properly it passes on its unhappiness onto the look of your hair. I’m no expert but common signs that your scalp isn’t happy can include having to frequently wash your hair because it looks limp and oily, dryness, itchiness or burning or flaking. By using an exfoliating shampoo, you have the right ingredients to help increase blood circulation and remove sluggish cells, keeping the way clear for new cells to appear. It’s worth taking a bit of extra time to massage your scalp while you shampoo to help the process. Also, taking your time over the shampoo is exactly what hairdressers in a salon do and it makes a difference to the end result. Aveda’s Invati Advanced Shampoo contains salicylic acid and lactic acid to gently persuade those old cells away. If you use the mask you don’t really need the Conditioner – for me it would be an either/or situation but not both.

The mask has all the right things for a shiny, healthy looking result – I won’t list all the ingredients but ginseng, turmeric and kukui oil are all things that hair responds well to. You can leave it in for between 2 and 5 minutes to it work on both plumping up the hair strands and replenish the scalp without leaving build-up so the whole cycle starts again. The brand uses polymers for the ‘plumping’ effect which does actually seem to work in terms of a volumized result while at the same time the formula is helping to strengthen the hair – important if your tresses are fragile. All Aveda products are lovely – I’ve never met an Aveda shampoo I didn’t like and Sap Moss is firmly in my routine now when I’m not testing other products. The results from this system on me were swishy hair that had more body than normal, a clean feeling scalp and plenty of shine and I’m not sure what else I could ask for. It’s not the cheapest hair brand but always seems to hit the spot in addressing issues. You could start with the £9 travel size to see how you get along. Full size is £35 HERE but I notice that Aveda has various offers on just now including 50% off the Invati Light (and Rich) systems HERE. If there’s any one key product I’d advise for scalp issues, it’s the shampoo – choose light HERE for oily hair and rich for normal-dry. If you work with it by working it in well for as long as your hairdresser would do, you give the exfoliating ingredients a chance to work – don’t splosh and rinse! Non-affiliate is HERE.
