[unpaid/sample] It was definitely love at first sight with new brand Deck of Scarlet so anything they do I am interested in, particularly with what I think is their strongest product, the Solid Lip Oils. It’s not often I am sent a full colour line up and can wear every single shade, and even with the addition of three more colours, I am in the same position. There’s something about them that is the right side of colour saturation – neither too strong or too insipid – and the right texture for lips that run to dry. They’re balmy, lightful and fresh looking.
The white packaging with hearts is by LA based artist, James Goldcrown, who found fame creating art from spray paint. He’s originally from west London. The hearts design is his signature and stems from a Valentine’s Day mural he created that went viral as #LOVEWALL when selfie takers found it and spread it across social media. The shade is named for him too, and is a clear sheen that is useful for no make up days or over any matte lipstick to bring it to life.
In this picture, it’s Pink Provocateur, Natural Nectar and Goldcrown.
In the swatch, from bottom to top: Pink Provocateur, Goldcrown and Natural Nectar. They’re £25 each HERE.

The lip oils look ace..but The brand’s list of ‘50 banned Ingredients’- including BHA’s ( do they mean salicylic acid?) is baffling. I must confess, I am coming to the point where any brand shouting ‘clean’ is becoming extremely off putting. Is this becoming a requirement for any brand now? Sorry- I know this is a grump – why would sulphates, for instance, be ‘banned’?
I know – I’m really with you on this. I just try to use my own messaging on products rather than get pulled into their messaging – I know that readers here do their homework. That said, they’re really lovely lip products 🙂
